Hi
I have a pajero 3L v6 1995 SWB model.
I find it to be very sluggish. Everything else on the road overtakes it on hills.
Has anyone attempted to put a different engine in their pajero say a 3l Diesel hilux motor with success?
Thanks
regards
Kyle

Hi Kyle. I am new to this forum. I have just completed a engine transplant to my gen 2, 2.5 td. (1992 swb). I have fitted a nissan 3.2 turbo diesel - qd32eti motor.
I chose this motor, as the performance figures are very close to my 3.2 did - 2002 swb, but the fuel consumption is way better. Fitted to the nissan torrano, (south america), this motor does 6.5 lts per 100 km = 17 km per L of diesel. My did does 10 to 12.
I removed the viscous fan, (about 15 % more power), and weighted the flywheel. A viper exhaust was fitted. Unfortuately, I had to change the diesel pump to the mechanical pump. All in all, this was a worthwhile, painless excercise. The car drives like a dream, compared to the sluggish motor I had previously. Towing the fully loaded off road trailer is way easier now - she barely feels it. I must still determine her consumption, and what power she is delivering.
If I can answer any further questions, I will be happy to do so.

Going to be a challenge. Most complicated thing I have done so far is just changing the timing belt...
Would have to change gear box as well. And cut a hole in the bonnet for the inter cooler.
What kind of costs are involved? at the moment Im spending 2k a month on fuel?
