Electronics -Shot

All of a sudden I am experiencing a problem where my ABS, HANDBRAKE (emergency brake), Central dif lock light comming on. There is a whining sound in the front and an audible disengagement noise when getting to a stop. At the same time the air conditioner fan starts blowing full speed even though in the off position and the lights gets brighter. This comes and goes throughout the trip but is more prevelent when the vehicle is cold. Is this the start of the computer packing up. Work done prior to this: I had all the drive lights 4wd diff locks etc. switches replaced. I had work done on the altenater since the battery was running down. Whilst driving at night you can visibly see the lights become brighter when these lights come on and become more dim when they go off again.

"I had work done on the altenater "

and

"at night you can visibly see the (head)lights become brighter when these lights come on"

If this was my car I would start the witchhunt at the alternator/voltage regulator.

Thanks guys. Your on the spot. I had Rui check it out for me and it seems like the alternator is overcharging since the last work done. Trying to source a new one ans should hear today. Seems like these things are as scarce as chicken teeth. Will advise.

The problem was the alternator overcharging indeed. Bought new one and also had Rui take out the ECU and clean all the points. All light are working like it should and the trip to Kroonstad and back over the weekend went without incident.

Hi,
I have the same problem with an overcharging alternator.
I read elsewhere it can be caused by a blown fuse?

I am also struggling to find an alternator or the regulator for a Gen3 petrol 3.8 :| unfortunately I am in Durban, so don't have access to Rui, whose name pops up all the time. Mitsubishi want R15k for a new alternator. Do you maybe know where I can source an after market alternator or regulator?

I am about to purchase a sub from Rui, and are planning to drive up to Gauteng soon, to fetch.
If he has got your part, I will collect, no problem.
I live in Hilton which is slightly closer to you than Gautengeleng
