Bash Plate

Hi,
I have just bought a 2003 3.2 DiD SWB Pajero. After having its first service, the mechanic notified me that the centre bash plate for the car was missing. He said that it appears it was removed to change the oil and was not replaced.
I contacted Mitsubishi who showed me a replacement for the plate which was plastic. I of course want the bash plate to metal, just like the other 2 bash plates that remain on the vehicle.
I tried calling some 4x4 places who said that they do not supply individual plates and only have a single plate for the whole vehicle.
Does anyone know either what the specs for the centre bash plate are so that I can get one made, or know of anywhere where I can buy one from?
Your help will be much appreciated.

Get yourself the complete front bashplate from stofpad 4x4. The bashplate is plenty thick and very strong........and looks gooood.
I think frontrunner sells them separately....well, the front one at least....but for that price......take the stofpad 4x4.....you won't be disappointed.
Still on my list is the plate for the transfer case.....also from stofpad 4x4.

I would also recommend you contact Uys at Stofpad.
Out of interest; I had ordered the protection plate and Uys had just made one for a Gen4 DiD. He then replicated that one for me, will you believe the crossmember where the rear of the engine mounts are, is in a different position for the 3.8V6 car.

I had 3 of the transfer case plates at my house at one point because when I went to Uys he wasn't sure which of the 3 designs fitted my particular Gen4 so he told me to take them home, fit them and return the others to him at my leisure. You must get one, they are awesome!

Hiya
As far as I know, the middle one is plastic, certainly on our 2001 / 2002 models it is. The one right underneath the bumper with the vents is steel, plastic up until the cross member, and then a steel belly plate under the gearbox.
I have a Frontrunner replacement for that plastic plate. You're more than welcome to have if you want. With the disclaimer that I think they don't fit very well and I ended up buying replacements from Lynx 4x4.

Do not think the Factory fitted steel bash plate will stop anything, that plate is worth nothing. i took out my inter-cooler with a rock that dented the factory bash plate like it was paper.
if you gonna go off road get proper protection plates. Stofpad4x4 or Lynx, just get a decent one.
the stofpad on covers front and bottom and is one piece.

Hi Gents,
Thanks so much for the info and advice. I guess I had to take the plunge and go for the StofPad4x4 bash plate which covers the front and intercooler section of the underside of the car.
I had it fitted today and it looks great. I totally agree with you guys that ifi want to go off road I really want to fee like I have the right protection.
I'm doing an awesome 4x4 course this weekend so can't wit to test it out!

Good to hear that,
Rather be safe than sorry when you want to go off road.
i was lucky in that its only a dent, could have been much worst. but just shows that the factory fitted stuff got limits.
