Smaller size tyre

Hi Guys
I am curious, why can't one put on 245/70/16 tyres to my Gen 3 3.2..???
On my Gen 2, I put on 215/15 where everyone else was going 265, and I had no issues. In actual fact, the 215 had a higher load bearing rating than the 245. I am also not concerned about the speed factor, as I don't generally exceed 120km/h, ok, maybe 130 on rare occasions....

Hi Bernard.
You can put narrower tyres on the paj, but just make sure that your profile height says the same so that your gearing won't be out.
IIRC the owners manual gives 2 options on tyre size, I think 265/70-16 and 235/80-16(I think) which has a higher aspect ratio to it to keep the wheel circumference the same.

I will look tonight and revert back.

Hi

On 245's the 245/75/r16 is the equivalent size to the std 265/70r16. It is not a common size though so not availble in all tyre brands. Check your user manual for std sizes that the GLX came out with, but 235/80r16 sounds about right.

Google tyre size calc & check circumference.

If go smaller it will effect speedo & odo reading to overread by a larger margin & also the true speed at which the autobox switches. The Gearbox issue is more where going to bigger size as autobox does not engage lock-up mode at highway cruising speed as often as it should.
