Pajero Owners Club of South Africa

With my Paj DIDc reaching 7 years & 175000 km I was developing a petrol itch - Roelf and his fire-engine red Mivec had started it . Only problem (perennial problem) was cash shortage.

Shortly after the itch started, SWAMBO bought a new Suzuki SX4 and in the many visits to the Suzy dealers I ended up sitting in GVs. I quite liked them and remembered they had a nice petrol a few years back so did some googling.

Long story short, I swopped the Paj plus 40K for a 4 year and 120,000km younger Grand Vitara 3.2 V6 - thanks again Roelf.

A big thanks to all on the forum for advice and the odd GTG I was privileged to attend - especially enjoyed the Barberton bash in 2012.

Many fond memories of the Paj so this ain't goodbye but Au Revoir

Not nice but I also have a soft spot for Suzuki's (and Subaru's) so will forgive you this one.

Enjoy and I hope that the Zook will give you as many pleasurable miles as the Pajero. Those V6's are pretty brutal in the slightly more compact GV body! I am sure the boy racer in you will rejoyce!

Thanks CATS - some vehicles you miss, some you don't - Forester, Impreza & now Pajero head up my "miss" list

I looked at the GV when I was on Forester number 2 - more out of interest then anything else but remember being quite impressed.

So when on the petrol trail I saw the GV had a ladder frame built into the monocoque and the low-range was of a similar ratio to the Paj I was interested.

Seeing the V6 has 165KW/284Nm in a 1.7 tonne vehicle and was quite cheap I thought what the hell - give it a whirl - if it doesn't work can always buy Roelf's passion wagon when he sells

Only thing is the GV's are low and plastic underneath - so have factored in a minor lift and steel undies - then I can come play with you big boys at one of your GTGs (if you'll have me)

First tank I got 10.2 l/100km - quite a bit of highway driving so won't get too excited yet but was expecting worse.

I'm not sure that I sit too comfortable with the "thanks" for driving you away from Pajero

Those GV are nice cars with a good reliability record. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I'm also sure you will wish you had a MIVEC everytime one crosses your path

• Dyes the hair (that's left) black.
• Opens the shirt's top three buttons.
• Thick gold chain.
• White Moccasins.
• New sporty vehicle (called a "Meno-Porsche").
• etc.

The condition lasts a few months and in acute cases, a few years.

Keeping a close eye on the "Tie in the dots" - if the dates are right I might beg for an "outsider" invite

4ePajero - you may be right - still sneak a glance at each Paj I pass on the roads
