Hi all,

So the time has finally come. I have just sold my Hilux D/Cab and am now ready to commit to an older Pajero ( budget Driven)
I am looking at a 2001 Pajero 3.2 DiD GLS with 270,000 km on the odo.

Is there anything very specific with these models that there is a problem with or anything i should look out for when I test drive tomorrow.

Please help a prospective Mitshu Brother out !!!!
Thanks

Hi. They are seriously reliable, but 270k km is plenty far. Check and test as much as possible before committing.

I think the biggest thing is the timing chain AND timing chain guide. There are a lot of high mileage Pajero’s out there with very happy owners. On the first timing chain service, some mechanics only replace the chain and not the guide. The guide does wear out and could cause a timing chain failure, even if it is a new chain. I think most other “wear” items are easily identifiable by inspecting the vehicle and taking it on a short drive. Have fun!
