Some Minor Issues on my Pajero 3.2

Hi, I have some minor issues that is very strange to me on my 2007 3.2 D.iD Pajero. I live in North West Province at an altitude of around 1200m above sea level. When I go done to the coast or even Kruger National Park the engine light comes on together with the traction control lights. Also my cruise control does not work when this happens. But when driving back up at around 1000m al goes back to normal and I will never see the problem at my home elevation. I have the car now for 12 months and been to the coast two times and to Kruger 3 times and every time this happens. It has never happen at home.
Also another thing is my ventilation fan has this strange tendency of turning on when its set to 0. But it will only turn on for about 1 second. You can hear the relay click in the dashboard. But when I put the fan on the 1st setting this never happens again. :|
Do anybody know what might be the problem.
Thanks.

@renierk,

Pretty much any error detected by the ECU will kick out the cruise control - that is for safety.

I can't comment on the other faults.
What I would suggest is to get the car connected to a MUT II tester. That will show the error history with diagnostic fault codes. The particular fault codes should then help to isolate the root cause of the problem.

I had the same problema on a 3.2 2008, the solution was to clean the EGR system.

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation system
- it bleeds a portion of the hot exhaust gases back through to the inlet manifold and is designed to reduce the emmissions. Based on revs, engine temperature, exhaust gas temperature, throttle opening etc. the ECU determines the amount of opening of the EGR valve - i.e. how much, if any, exhaust gases are recirculated.

One of the issues with EGR is that the hot exhaust gases can cause the oil in oily inlet air (oily because the sump ventilates to the inlet manifold and also can be because of some degree of oil leakage through the turbo seals) to partially burn in the inlet manifold leaving carbon deposits which choke the inlet.

@Renierk. Did your problem with the traction control lights and cruise control get sorted. I've got the same problem with my 2005 model.
