Hey All

I'm in the process of buying one of these, 2005 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2DID SWB.

Does anyone have any experience and advise on the towing capability of these?

I would be looking to tow anything from a luggage trailer to a dual axle, brake assisted small car trailer. i see the towing limit is 2 tons, which falls within my needs.

I heard they can be twitchy on the open road, i wanted to know if this also applies when towing?

What is the realistic consumption in town and open road.

A SWB will always be more twitchy than a LWB due to the shorter wheelbase -

But overall the Pajero gen3 is a very solid and stable towing vehicle. If you tow heavy loads for extended periods it might be worth it to consider aftermarket air bellows in the rear coils to lift the bum a bit and keep the wheels nice and centered and not facing outwards due to independent rear suspension layout, leading to premature tyre wear on the shoulders.

Due to the weight of the Pajero it makes a very solid towing vehicle and in some other countries it is authorized to tow much more weight.

PS - I tow a heavy Xplorer off road caravan with no complaints but have the rear air bellows mentioned and stiffer suspension setup for bigger loads.
PS - my fuel consumption on my Fuelly in my footer is almost exclusive towing and off road touring. You should get a lot better on avearge around 10-12l/100km I would say.

My LWB in town averages about 13-14L/100km when my wife drives it on the short trips and when I used it to work and back with mixed driving in Joburg it went down to 12.7L/100km. I'm also looking at getting a Gen3 shorty to replace my platkar, hope she treats you well.

If I may offer my opinion on the stability of the SWB. Yes, it will change direction sharper than a LWB, but it has a well tuned suspension and as sure footed as my Golf GTi's of yesteryears. As far as tow stability goes, don't you gents think that having the tow ball so much nearer the rear axle, that it should rather lead to a more stable towing platform. I found my towing experience with an old Jurgens a big pleasure in all regards

Owning a shorty I can promise you that it is really stable and fun car to drive. My one friend also with a shorty calls it his go-cart!

As far as towing is concerned, I cant really help you there. all I know is that the 3.2 DiD is well renowned for its towing capabilities.

Hey All

Loving my new Pajero! learning lot about it as i go along!

Does anyone have any experience with tyre pressure?

I have the standard size tyres but all terrains. Velocity Raptors, they came on the Pajero.

I wanted ot know what kind of pressure i should aim for when jut doing normal tar driving and then when i go offroad. Are there any guide lines?
