Hi everyone,
I researched Prado v Pajero, decided on a Prado, saw one advertised & went to drive it & at the shop saw the Pajero. I drove both and even though my mind was pre-made-up I fell head over heals with the Pajero- how it drove, how it looked & the price. So here I am, almost a year on and the owner of a 2005 Pajero 3.8 petrol. Taken the family to the Kruger Park twice, Marloth Park (hmm), Impila Camp at Imfolozi twice (great) and farm place. I've absolutely loved the truck so far.
I've had it serviced at Steve's Auto Clinic and so far they've been quite good. Loads of replacements with the suspension stuff- I think the pure owner might have been a bit adventurous!??? Planning to go to Impila again on Monday BUT the darn alternator is making the battery boil. I didn't know that could happen. The dealer wants R15k, and the auto electrician has been battling to get a regulator to fix the alternator. Eventually I found one used being scavenged from a Gen3 that should be delivered tomorrow, and I hear it will take a short time to fit?!
But this incident has made me slightly nervous about the truck, the lack of after-market spares and what else might be lurking.
Do you think it's a funny truck? Or is it just normal time/useage issues? I would hate to be stuck in Impila with my buddies who are out from Texas?
Should I have gone with the Prado?.
