So I have been driving my 2006,3.2,glx,lwb since 182k (when I bought it) and its coming up to 200k (199563km). I only had to replace brake discs all round and I haven't had any troubles. I don't know how the previous owner treated her, but I do oil and filters every 7500km and dose some 2T. I have the slips of the transfer case and diffs oils done at 180k. I have the following questions:
1. Should I start looking at injector tests?
2. Should I start looking at CAM chains or guides?
3. Should I start looking at the newer models?
She goes so well a.t.m. I am afraid if I start "krapping" something will get messed up.
She has the following mods:
Color coded rear bumper and front ARB
Dual battery system
Bash plates for diffs, engine and t-case
16" Mag rims with 265/70/16 Yoko G012
50mm lift from Stofpad spacers
Frankster, at first glance one is tempted to think this is a technical question, but it isn't really.... it's a moral issue. You want to know if you can trust the workshop. Preventative maint will always be the right thing to do, but only if you trust the work.
Statistically speaking: by servicing every 7.5k and by using 2SO (and I would recommend 500ppm) are you giving your car the best chance of running trouble free. The only item missing from the 180k service invoice list is transmission oil

What is the difference between them and why?
Main difference is sulphur is removed to clean up the environment. GOOD. The process removes the wax from the diesel as well and reduces the lubricity to almost zero. The car builders and the oil companies get together and decide on a minimum lubricity that is acceptable. The oil companies have to add stuff (at cost) to get the lubricity up to a minimum level. They have no incentive to exceed that.
The commonrail system ups the diesel pressure and the injectors get very refined with extra high spec moving bits. All this calls for best possible lubricity.
As soon as this mimimum lubricity diesel gets a little abused, it cannot protect those hightech parts any more.
The 500 diesel is not dirty or contains contaminants that could be harmfull to your pump or injectors. It is full of sulphur that fouls up the atmosphere and ruines your engine oil. That is why the dealer will say only 50. They use the cheapest oil they can get away with and if you run 10k with high sulphur diesel, then you are looking for trouble in the long run.
Now back to my opinion:
500 diesel lubricates the pump and injectors and protects them best.
2SO helps even more with the lubricating AND it burns carbon off the injector tips (and all other "dry" parts in the combustion chamber), further helping to preserve them.
My final point is to stick to the 7.5k oil change interval to counter the slow destruction of the oil.
