Hi anyone have experience with this ? Reading the fine print seems the maintainance plan is transferable with no conditions attached, however the 3 year /100 000km warranty small print states the car must be sold through a Mitsubishi dealership for the warranty to be transferred. The back of the service book even has a card for the transfer with place for the dealer stamp. Does this rule out a private sale, seems bit unreasonable? Anyone got round this ?

I've never spotted this. Interesting point. I've never really figured out what the real difference is.

I had a few reliability issues (the MAF was literally broken and shortly after the ABS accumulator) on my 2003 DiD very near the end of the maint plan (well past the warranty). Both were totally resolved under the maint plan.

For the record, that Pajero had spent more than a month in a bodyshop before the few reliability issued cropped up.

Hi Thanx for the reply - interesting they repaired that under the maintenance plan (underwritten by outside company) - reading the contract it is clearly orientated towards serving of the vehicle and replacement of wear and tear items - ie brake pads, clutch etc.

A broken ABS or MAF would I think fall under the warranty claim which is from Mitsubishi.

Hi,

I bought my Pajero from a non-franchised dealer with about 38 000km on the clock. I completed the card and posted it to the Pajero HQ. My Pajero was serviced and repaired till the Maintenance Plan ran out without any hassle or negative comment from the agents.

The Maintenance Plan is part of the car and NOT the "property" of the owner.

Thanx for reply - agreed its quite clear that the Maintenance plan is transferable - I am talking about the Manufactures Warranty - 2 separate documents. Did you ever have any major mechanical issues other than standard services to test the theory?

The warrantee also belongs to the vehicle and will remain valid as long as the vehicle is serviced by the agents AND used as per the design. Modifications and changes to the basic vehicle as it left the factory may affect the warrantee. This will depend on the dealer - some are "plein hardekwas" and others are more lenient.

Serious problems with my Pajero?? A qualified YES. All the bottom bolts that hold the suspension swing arms (front and rear) started to rust. The rear ones had to be cut with a angle grinder to get the arms out of the suspension carrier to enable the dealer to replace them. The front ones were starting to rust but could be taken out the normal way. All were replaced under warrantee. When I got the vehicle back, I removed them, had them plated to try and stop the rusting and after plating installed them with a generous helping of copper slip lubricant. When my Pajero now goes in for castor, camber and toe-in, I personally check the bolts to ensure that they are OK.

The strange thing is that all the upper bolts are plated whilst the bottom bolts are plain/bare metal - both old and replacement parts.

This warranty is the standard warranty that comes with the car and is valid for 3 yrs / 100000km ( manufacturers warranty )

The warranty stays with the vehicle and does not need to be transferred to the next customer

The most amazing thing about this email is its existence. Not many dealers reply to emails.

That said, I bought my 3.8V6 SWB from them and their service was brilliant.
