Gen 3 to Gen 4 - transfer of Mods - 1st impressions

So I finally took the plunge and bought a low mileage 2013 3.2 exceed - a huge age difference from my 2000 3.2 manual.

So now I need to start transferring my customisations across - those that I can - so I can sell my old one (going on assumption you dont get much for after-market mods):
  • Second battery with management system
  • ARB replacement bumper and spots
  • Shelf system in boot
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • Roof racks on rails
  • Raised suspension
I am hoping if I can get my hands on the rubber insert found on the new ARB bumpers I can modify mine to fit the fog lights - any suggestions where I can get hold of these?

Any idea if the uprated springs will work for Gen4 (Ill leave the shocks) ?

Things I miss in Gen4 Exceed:
  • Rear diff lock - can be fixed
  • lost many storage pockets esp in boot and rear door
  • Rear wheel not exposed - bike rack and highlift jack mounting idea
  • Manual gearbox - still don't know what to do with my left hand when driving
  • No place for my smart phone in the dash area
New car does drive nicely though :D

I will be following your thread with interest as I also have an aging gen3 and might just be lured into a gen4 at some stage, but I dont want to start the customization all over so would be great to transfer all/most of it over. I will especially like to see how you manage the ARB bumper, if at all possible.

Except for the bumper the rest should fit as is? Not sure about the bumper.

Smartphone sits on top of the steering column in front of the instruments. Does not a cover to stop it sliding around too much. Yes, no tools in the Exceed, not even a screw driver! Auto is the way to go, once you get used to it you will wonder why you ever had a manual. The 2013's started coming out with rear diff lock, not sure exactly when, so maybe....

Ok

So I sold my 2001 (NM) gen3 CK Pajero after stripping it of most of the accesories built up over the years and bought a later model 2009 NS gen4.

So far I have transfered dual battery system, suspension (coils and shocks), aux fuel tank, aircompressor in engine bay, storage system built into back and roofrack tracks and roofrack with all attachments without too much hassle.

So far everything fitted without any problem, except for the aux fuel tank which needed the mounting brackets modified slightly for some reason.

Next will be the rocksliders, which look to be a direct fit, and then lastly attempting to fit the ARB Sahara bar and winch. Not sure if the bar will work though.

Thus so far I can confirm that all my accesories could be transfered :-)

Pics on my build thread.

Just to update this thread as well. Unfortunately the ARB bar from a gen3 Pajero does not fit a gen4. I tried and it does not work and if you have some custom work done and get it to fit it will drop down too low, making the bar look a bit out of place.
