OK, so the itch subsided for a while.............but its back! :D

I'm eyeballing two 2012 Gen4's at the moment. One is fitted with a Rockford sound system and the other with a CASKA unit. Both are GLS's.

What is the difference and which is better?

Thanks

There have been a few complaints re. the Caska system. The Rockford is a really good system. Just check if it has the IPod jack - if that is a factor in your life.

Did you see the 2012 3.8 V6, 40k km for R370k???

From all reports the Caska system seem to have a huge amount of features and would have been my choice for sure, as it is still linked to the same Rockford Fosgate speakers IIRC, but just with more functions on the head unit.

BUT -

By all accounts and feedback that I have read and heard the CASKA system is CRAP in the Pajero and gives endless hassles. So much so that Mitsu took them out and did not put them in as standard anymore like they did around 2010-2011. 2012 or there abouts it became an option but was not supported by Mitsu warantee due to the hassles that the units gave.

I have a 2011 Pajero with a caska unit. There are lots of functions, but none of the pleasant user experience, responsiveness or attention to detail you might expect from a recent android or apple phone. I can't recommend caska.

I did...........lot of car for good money, BUT having towed with a big-engined petrol before the DiD, I don't see myself changing from diesel soon!

Yip. I hear you. But that V6 is R100k cheaper. The interest alone can subsidise the fuel cost.

LoeRange,

A slightly different view point: Think how many kilos you can drive before having saved RK100 in the difference between the diesel and the petrol consumption. Do not even include the difference in service/repair costs.

Buy the petrol!!!

My 5 cents worth: I would recommend the Rockford option. For some unknown reason, these vehicles were never offered with the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System in South Africa. Not sure as to the reason for this. The MY15 models have a touch screen; one would have to enquire from the dealers as to whether this is the MMCS and whether.a retrofit is possible

Funnily enough, I like my Caska system! But only after I disconnected my Bluetooth facility as it appears that the Bluetooth connection causes the system to freeze (often)and then you have to reboot. Since disconnecting Bluetooth I have had no problem.
