Transfer lever can move forward and bacward in the 4HLc and 4LLc mode. High and low
Range engages but I can not move it back in the 2H range mode I dont think the centre diff is working and the centre diff light stays off.
Any suggestions to fix this problem. 1997 second gen.

Hi there mine is doing the same, but mine is just stuck in 4HL and doesn't move anywhere else. Have you managed to sort yours out and what did you do?

Regards
Piera

Hi Piera - mine was easy to fix. I removed the two gear levers by loosening the the top gear lever position covers. I then moved the selectors to their correct position (with a screwdriver) and installed the gear levers again. Working from the inside of the car. I bought my car with the body lifted (50mm spacers) so there was a bit more space to work in.
Hope you can fix your just as easily.

Regards

In my instance "rocking" the car forwards and backwards would not have helped (I have tried it). One of the gear levers was dislocated and only removing and repositioning it solved the problem.
On must be careful when you select the transfer case gears.

I am from Ireland I have a 07 Pajero 3.2 SWB. Its stuck in the low box we have changed the oil in the transfer box and the rear but no joy . We have tried all the usual ways driving it for a while putting it into reverse rocking etc.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Kieran, I had the exact problem with my 2007 3.2 LWB. In my case the culprit was one of the transfer case switches. I believe that they are colour coded and in my case it was the Brown wired switch. It is very easy to damage the wire of the switch when fastening or loosening it as the wire is attached to the switch.
