Hi Guys, does anyone have any recommendations for a mechanic who knows Gen 3 Did s very well somewhere in the Eastern Cape? Or do I take it to the agents? Any suggestions appreciated. Cheers

I use my vehicle for work and have a long trip to north western Zambia later in the year, i have lost a bit of confidence since my last trip up there when i had heating and water loss problems.

Since that trip I have had the head gasket redone and head checked which has sorted out the water loss problems, but i am still not happy with the temp when towing. Just done a trip to the west coast towing a big (but half full) trailer and temperature was rising on long slow hills. So i would like some advise and a mechanic who knows these vehicles to take a look, radiator seems fine so i am guessing the viscous fan needs to be checked and anything else in the cooling system (have replaced thermostat and radiator caps).

I would also like a full flush and check (if that's possible?) of my transmission, preferably by a mechanic who specialises in these vehicles.

No sure if i should take it to the agents in PE, or find a private workshop? I want more than a quick oil change and a wash.

Sounds like CATS's pajero as well.

Check obvious first. Make sure the viscous is pulling air towards the engine and not blowing.

Has the thermostat been replaced?

Has the system been bled properly?

Is there a way the waterpump can be turned in the wrong direction if the fanbelt is wrongly routed?

I trust my mechanic who did the work, he is just not that familiar with Pajero's thats why i would like to find someone who knows the vehicles well to take a look.

The thermostat was changed when i had problems in Zambia last year, system would have been bled properly when my mechanic worked on it. Will have to check the fan tomorrow and not sure how to check the water pump?

Fitted a Madman recently so the normal running temp is 79/80C, going up long gently hills towing it goes up to mid 90s and every now again to 100 but i am normally backing off by then. Its much better than it was as i am not loosing water, but i would like to get the temp constant as it used to be when towing.

Thanks for the input, have'nt looked at CATS's thread for a while, will look to see if he sorted his problem out.
