I have just traded my 2004 Pajero 3.8 gls for a 2010 Pajero sport but after a week I am still waiting for delivery as I felt a vibration on the steering wheel as well as on the driver seat! Used car dealer in Pretoria who I am buying from has replaced all engine and gearbox mountings but vibration remains. How they have send is to the mitshubisi dealership to see if they can rectify the problem. Should I start thinking of looking for another car or do you think the problem will be solved!!!

I so enjoyed the 3.8 gls but fuel consumption was killing me!!

Hi John,

assuming that your wheel -balancing and -alignment are all 100% in order, please have your propeller-shafts checked.
These need to be properly tightened to the flanges but also must they be aligned properly.
Misalignment can give the symptoms you describe.

So, don't dispose of your new baby yet, there is still hope.

Will see what mitsibushi has to say before I make a decision on the way forward!! I truely hope they get it sorted out!!

It;s a 2,5 4D56 engine, though you don't say if the vibration is at idle or when driven.

I spent months looking for an engine vibration, replacing all engine and manual box mountings. After mulling this over I considered the balance shaft belt may have jumped a number of teeth, so I cut off the belt by removing the top half of the timing covers. Sure enough, belt teeth were worn pretty smooth.

Now without the balance belt I've never known the engine to idle and run so smoothly, not in 190 000 km.
