Colt vs pajero

So guys you will all probably laugh at me but today I went passenger in a colt 4x4 double cab and I owned one before my pajero. I have a gen 3 pajero with a 3 inch lift and heavy duty suspension. It is iron man and is very hard.
We went on the road I travel everyday and it is a badly corrugated dirt road and a farm driveway and the colt felt so stable and did nt float on the road at all and seemed to be so smooth over the bumps and corrugations.
1. Is the colt just that good on gravel roads that I miss it so much and even think t is possibly more comfortable than my pajero
2. Is my pajero not so great cause of the suspension kit fitted
3. Has anyone else got any comments of the gravel road comforts between other vehicles and their pajero on a road that is badly corrugated etc
4. The colt seemed to have a better power to weight ratio in that it seemed to pull like a trojan but I was not driving so not sure how heavy the driver was on the pedal compared to how I normally am bit I did notice the seeds at cruising were similar to mine.
5. How does any other double cab perform on such gravel roads to the colt as in a few years time I would like to get one again

Thanks guys

75mm lift on a Pajero is most likely the reason for the uncomfortable ride.... My 2cw

Never having driven a colt I cannot compare but one of the few things about the gen3 which bothered was the hard ride on bad corrugations. Came the time to replace shocks, I went for Bilsteins, better but not much. Stability is a different matter. Even with BFGs, which are by far not the best for road holding, the
Pajero is solid as a rock on all surfaces.

I am not saying the pajero is bad, I hope that is not what it seems like I was saying in the first post. I am just saying really that it seemed like the colt rode over the bad roads better but it seems like my dash rattles a lot and the colt does not. Gerbek made a valid point that the 3 inch lift does nt bring any good comfort abilities to the car.
I am really interested in seeing others thoughts on gravel road performance with other vehicles vs the pajero gen 3

Yep. Gen 3 pajero has a sweet spot for driving corrugated roads, about 80-85kph is right in the zone. My friends with fortuners/hilux's get very nervous with me driving those speeds as they cannot do them in their cars with roads in bad conditions, you need to be driving to feel how stable the pajero is at the correct speed on gravel.... Anything slower and the dash wants to jump out the side window.

When driving in convoy on bad roads I always drive out ahead and wait for them. I can't travel at the slower speeds they can only achieve with the hilux/tuna chassis on rutted or corrugated roads without them turning turtle.

On my previous gen3 I fitted 50mm stofpad spacers I bought from cats, definitely hardened up my ride with the Gabriel safari hdp shocks, I wont fit the spacers again.

I have OME suspension(hard ride) with TJM XJS gold dampers (quite impressive shocks actually) which are on their last legs, I will definitely go for a softer damper next time. The heavy duty dampers come into their own when the van is fully loaded on bad roads, I don't carry heavy loads very often, and enjoy a soft ride.

My standard 2013 swb Pajero is definitely not giving me a comfy ride over bad corrugations. But it is always stable.

Can you elaborate what "not comfy" means? Is it the rattles in the cabin or do you get backache or what is it?

hi guys,
have not driven a Colt before, but man you cant compare an independent suspension of an SUV with the rigid rear axle of a bakkie,

this is my second Pajero, 1st one had EFS 50mm and even with that I enjoyed driving fact on a dirt road,

my latest has OME, its 3years old and are a bit hard, then again with all the add onn's it needs to work hard.

a pajero does have rattles given , but the balance always their to rely on,

Morning guys one thing i learned from my Pajero is that it loves gravel road but her is the but it does not like to take it slow like in slow with mine at +- 80 to 110km/h mine is like on tar road. you must read the road at what speed is the corrugated made that is the speed to travel on that road.

Hi Nicholas and Bull,
I'll try your advice next time I'm on bad corrugations (will refer my wife to you)
