Hey guys

I'm new here. I thinking of buying this pajero mini from botswana,

I have all the info on how to import it to sa etc.

I want to find out does anyone know/have the user manual and workshop manual for it. Will I can get parts for it like oil/air/petrol filter, timing belt, brake pads etc for at midas or autozone?

I want to use it for 4x4 trails and bridgestone club challenges.
I own a suzuki jimny and want to compare it to the pajero etc.

Also the jimny is a much higher value 4x4. So don't want to go to extreme with 4x4ing, as I damaged my jimny with the bridgestone last year.

With the pajero the value is so little, if it falls over. "Oops" not that I want that to happen. So you guys understand what I'm saying?

This is the 1997 Pajero mini with a 660cc turbo 20valve engine.
Here are some photos. It has been standing for a year or so.

Great car that! I would think parts and service items are gonna be almost impossible to find in SA but you never know. Mitsu is known for cross pollination on models so maybe some items are similar to other models. Maybe start with the service items like filters and visit Midas and try your luck. Hi

I lice in Mozambique and owned a 1996 1100 Junior until my good friend decided to drive it into a BT50 Double to te extend of removing the propshaft from the diff...
I can tell you that car is quite hard! Luckily no one got injured but sadly the Junior was written of... (Some one bought it and repaired it...).

On spares: I could get most spares through Union Motors in Nelspruit although it sometimes took 6 weeks because it had to be ordered from Japan.

They are GREAT little cars and I miss mine. I decided not to buy the turbo model as I did not want to struggle with turbo problems and I thought that the 1100 which has a 4 cylinder motor as apposed to the 3 cylinder of the turbo would last a bit better.

I used it extensively in sand - and it is very capable.

Their is only one problem: overheating... because it was build for colder climates they are prone to overheating in 4x4:
A few tips:

• Switch off the aircon
  Make sure the viscous fan is locking properly.
  Consider increasing the radiator capacity.

You would also possible need to replace the shock as these imported cars all has shock and coil spring problems.
Also replace the cambelt as the mileage on these car are all suspect.

I hope you can get it imported because as far as I understand it is impossible - as their is a ban on importing cars into SA that originated in Japan.

The junior came with a 1100 cc engine and is actually slightly larger than the MINI which can in a 660cc normally aspirated and 660cc turbo charged engine.
Most came with select 4x4 although some where 2x4. Most where automatic...

They are great in the city - but top speed is a bit low for a long drive...

Ahhh. Thanks . Never too old to learn something new. It is a real pity we never got these mini/junior Pajero versions properly in South Africa. I think with out SUV mad population they might have done well.

With the pajero mini. The farmer who owns it replaced the shocks when he bought it. With importing the pajero I must get a LOA letter etc. then if everything is sorted i must only pay 14% vat on the border. But yes I hear it is very hard to get the letter etc.

I will mainly use it to mess around on the farm with it and want to compare it to my suzuki jimny. "Same size 4x4 with open diff" only difference are engine size and jimny has a SFA where the pajero is IFA.
