Hi, I have Pajero sport with 265 / 65 R17 and an considering increasing the profile to a 265/70
Is there any disadvantage to increasing to a higher profile that I should be aware of?
Thanks

Your gearing will be higher so the car won't pull off as quickly but to be honest only going up one profile size won't make it that noticeable. The increase in ride height will be about 13mm which is always a bonus. I don't see why you shouldn't do it.

I'm also considering going up a size to 265/70/17 from 65 profile.
I have the standard suspension (no lift). Will the higher profile tyres rub or catch on turning or articulation?

Swimma - I'm hoping to go tyre shopping at the end of the month for the size mentioned - if it happens, will let you know the outcome

Ok so went shopping this morning and got the 265/70/17 so I nice increase in profile from my 65's. It doesn't touch on the inner wall and considering BFG's added rubber any other 70 brand should be fine. Only done 5km back to the house but ride seems nice and a bit softer. We'll see how it goes off-road but not planning a trip for a few months

Looking good.
Have you noticed any difference in the gearbox, especially on freeway cruising where it might be more reluctant to lock up overdrive due to the bigger tyres?

Michael, looks good.
Do you have the standard suspension?

Cats - took it for a short drive on the freeway this morning and too be honest could feel any difference in the gearing. I was checking speed and before the new Tyres my true speed was 113 when my speedo read 120 now my try speed shows 117 - so slight difference.
The one thing I did notice is that a slight more effort is involved to move off from a stationary position but really slight
