We won't experience any change. Even when local ownership changed, nothing really changed for us. The parts distribution hub was moved from Japan to Dubai, and that caused a short term hick up.
A merger so far away and so far up the food chain won't impact us. Mitsubishi Motor Corporation may well survive longer.

Got confirmation today that Sandton Mitsu are closing on 31 May. They are apparently joining up with the Honda dealer on Rivonia. Not lekker as that is my local service spot. Oh well

I want to replace my my 2012 swb with 95k km on it.
Already know I cannot get the lwb as it is too expensive and updated years ago.
Do I wait for the new Sport or do I go for the new Fortuner?
When will the new Sport get here and will it have the same specs as overseas?
I need a big vehicle that can tow 2500kg.
I am retiring and this will be the last vehicle purchase for me.

Nissan and Mitsubishi still imported by Imperial therefore still same service and expensive parts. See no change.

Just keep the SWB.
What is the price difference between the SWB trade-in value and a new Sport/Tuna? Put that sum aside and use it for holiday money.

Is this true? Nothing on their website at the moment.
Not great news when these things happen.
Would this have any effect on service quality and parts availability? I always got very good service from the guys at Sandton.

I phoned Mitsubishi Sandton and spoke to Fika(Service Consultant). It is true.
he could not offer an alternative dealership for services etc.
