Thanx C

The sticker went on as soon as we got home on Saturday evening. Had a lot of people wanting to know more about the club. We might be growing once again.

Ps. found this weekend that for some reason our pajero never went into low range. that means I did the whole eco course last weekend in 4Hlc. didn't even notice.

well got it sorted this weekend, now 'm even more impressed with my "tupper bakkie". And trust me some Hilux's and Prado's as well.

Will post some more pics if I can find my camera cable...

Howzit Andre,

Looks like fun!

Tyres - what pressure were the Hankooks running?

You seem happy with them - how much were they and what size does the Gen 3 take?

Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom

Yes I am extremely happy with the Hankooks. Especially the road noise, there is none.

Important thing about the price is the R700 a tyre cheaper than BF's bit. Got them for R1235 fitted and balance a tyre at Tyger wheel in Boksburg. The one next the Bed shop not the one next to Kentucky!!

I fitted 31x10.5x15 but you have to do the lift then, cause chow the inner guard on the wheel arch. Have to replace mine now. hehehe. but hell its worth it.

Interesting that you say the 31's rub... in mine there is masses of space (unmodded) and could possibly go up to 32's. What's the nominal diamter of the standard Gen3 SWB tyres?

PS, to not detract from the de wildt discussion I will probably merge these questions to the existing topic

Standard tyre size on the Gen 3 is 265/70R16 (nominally 30.6"). Several owners fit 265/75R16 (nominally 31.6") without any rubbing, but that it on the standard rims.

The Gen 3 has quite a large positive offset on the OEM rims (40mm IIRC). I assume this is to maximize the suspension arm lengths for maximum flex on the independent suspension. Almost all aftermarket rims have closer to 0 mm offset and this causes the the wheel width to increase compared to the original. This is probably why the 31" tyres on aftermarket rims catch the inner fenders when steering. The interference between the tyre and inner fender might also be aggravated by the fact that the wider wheel width causes the ride height to decrease slightly (due to simple leverage).

I am actually surprised that the 15" alloy rims clear the brake callipers on Andre's car.

Interesting!! I'll look into this some more. But yes thay definitely clear the breaks, I can vouch for that.
