1997 PAJERO BLISTER FENDER 1UZ LEXUS V8 SWAP

I have started my Swap last week first removed the 3.5 V6 GDI engine which was a big task especially the 3 highest bolds holding the transmission to the engine.
Next task was cleaning and tidy up the engine bay.
And today started to do the transmission modification as seen on several Pajero with Automatic transmission.
I understood that the bellhousing of the V8 Automatic transmission fits on the Pajero auto transmission.

That didn't work out for me doesnt fit

They say its possible to swap the primary shaft is impossible is totally different.

Now i am looking at my options.
Will use Pajero auto transmission but make or source an adapter plate to fit the Lexus Bellhousing.
And also need to modify the Lexus flexplate to accept the Pajero torque converter.

Questions.
1. Did any of you have this experience and what was the Solution ?
2. Is there such adapter plate available for the Pajero auto transmission to fit the Lexus Aisin auto transmission Bellhousing.

See pictures below.

I am working on my 1UZ Swap from a Toyota Celsior going into my Wide Body LWB 1997 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.5 GDI.
Was expecting an walk in the park with the mating of the transmission to the engine but things are slightly different in reality.
1. It was said the Lexus Bellhousing would fit straight onto the Pajero Transmission but that is not the case the diameter of the Pajero bellhousing mating surface to the box is 245mm the Lexus about 215mm.
In order to make an adapter plate it will need to happen at the
a. Engine side or
b. Cut part of the Pajero bellhousing and have this welded to the Lexus belhousing.
2. I want to stick with the Pajero Transmission as it is a strong problem free transmission.
This means will need a custom Torque Converter. I am hanging more to usingthe Pajero Torque converter and have the bolts locations as per the Lexus flexplate welded on and balanced.
Questions
a. Who can assist in making / modifying the Torque Converter to fit on the Lexus flexplate.
b. We need to not forget the dept of the primary shaft coming out of the transmission that the splines line up properly.
c. That the centre point which is different on the Pajero Transmission needs to be machined and possibly welded on to fit the Lexus Flexplate.
Looking for advise how to get around this little hurdle.
See pictures for reference.

I think you need to try and contact https://youtu.be/pqaGU0tj3OI

Laurence Munro. Maybe a websearch will get you some contact details. He might even be on this forum, not sure.

Hello
How is the conversion going?
I am about to attempt the same on my Gen 2 auto, how did you fix the gearbox problem?
Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Paul

Hi Paul just saw your post I stored the project for a while but have made the transmission adapter plate.
The modified Torque converter
I only need the wiring diagram of the Transmission and ecu pinout to wire it to the Lexus ecu.

So,how is this project going?

Which gearbox were u using?

We have plenty of gen3 with blown automatic gearboxed 6g74 GDIs.

A V8 in them would be more cost effective than a new pajero

An update I have now got a 5 SPD Manual from a 2008 Toyota Hilux complete with transfer case.
When I bought the gearbox at the same time I also bought a 3UZ plan now is to fit the 3UZ when I get back into the workshop hope September or October.

Will post pictures as I go.

Nice. But I'm really interested in the adapters you build. For which gearbox were they?

I hear it's hard to mate the Lexus engine to the v5a51 box (common on automatic GDIs)

I would love if someone has done it
