New"ish" owner and looking for a new Motor

Hello Fellow Pajero owners
A little introduction first.
Paul from Boksburg, proud owner of a 2015 Pajero Sport Manual -fantastic machine and I cannot understand why there are not more on the road. Reason for buying the Pajero?
Because its not a Toyota.
But the story does not stop there, this is not my only Pajero.
I have been looking for a 4x4 project and found what I was looking for, a 1999 Gen 2 Pajero, body in good condition, no rust, bumps or dings.
Interior needs a bit of work, front seats require repairing/ recovering, rear seats need a little attention and the steering wheel to be recovered.
Biggest problem is it needs a new motor. The old unit is completely shot and beyond repairing.
Could somebody please explain the difference between the 6G74 GDi and Non GDi motor.
Thanks
Paul
