I have a 2001 Pajero GLS 3.2 DiD manual. On just over 300 000 trouble free kilometers the speedometer start jumping up and down occasionally. When this happens, the speed control also disengage. Eventually after about 1 000 km it stopped working all together.

I assume it is a sensor but the question is which one? Any suggestions?

It does not have a speedo cable. Seems to be an electronic speedo.
