Lazy 3.2 DiD

Good day all

As of late my Pajero has become quite lazy! The pull-away is very lethargic and it also seems the gearbox holds on to 3rd much longer than it used in the past. I guess the gearbox is not getting the power it expects.

Any ideas would be welcome!

Thanks in advance!

If you're in JHB then take it to Arnold Venter at Mitsi Tech in Alberton. He can give it a software update and also check for other potential causes like a dirty MAF sensor etc. He's a whizz with the Pajero's.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm in Windhoek.

Oh dear. My advice is to contact him and ask his opinion. He's on Facebook under Mitsi Tech or on the Pajero Owners Club group.

Had a similar expérience
The Mitsubishi workshop identified an exhaust problem
They changed the catalysator
Since that fix, my engine runs perfect again, gear is smooth, power available again
The car is over 240.000

Chat to Arnold, he has a wealth of experience. Altough my shorty is testing his knowledge with a similar problem.

I'm also based in WHK, sounds exactly the same as my Pajero's issue. The turbo seems to kick in too late. My mechanic identified it as a leak in my intercooler, possibility that I bumped it somewhere driving offroad - the bash plate is dented. +- R18 000 for a intercooler replacement.

R18 000 ???
That sounds like a m€£¥se ripoff. You can have a superiorly constructed intercooler made for a third of that price.

I had a similar issue with a dented intercooler, Mitsubishi was asking R21k for a replacement. Absolute ripoff.
I managed to find a second hand replacement at a scrap yard and fitted it myself, no issues since and motor is going strong after 351000.
BTW, the replacement unit cost R2500 sent to Cape Town from Pretoria
