2008 pajero 3.2 Did service and maintenance

Morning all,
I am new to the forum and have decided to start servicing my own car, to help save on the labour costs.
I have a 3.2 DiD pajero, which has just ticked over to 240000km.
Recent work I have had done, replacement of wheel bearing and reconditioning of fuel pump, due to the car cutting out randomly. These two items cost me a lot of money, but in General, I am extremely happy with my pajero and hope to keep her going for many many more years.
Being new to vehicle mechanics and maintenance, I am only going to do oil and filters maintenance for now as well as check brake pads and possible bleed the brakes as they feel very spongy.
I have read it is recommended to get filters from the dealers, which comes to just over R1000 for oil, are and diesel filter. Does this sound correct?
With regards to engine oil, delo 400 seems to be the popular favourite, which I will try and find at Makro.
Does it sound like I am on the right track for the maintenance I am planning to do my my "rhino"?
Appreciate all feedback you guys are willing to provide.
Regards,
Justin
