On the trip back from the Cederberg, my trailer blew the fuses to the hazards, indicators and brake lights. Changed all the fuses and everything is working again. When checking the lights, I noticed that the brake lights only work on the bumper lights and the overhead light on the door. Having never really taken too much notice of which lights are used when breaking (never behind the car when driving), I assumed that the red lights at the top of the tail light cluster were for the brake lights. Having looked through out the manual, there is no reference as to what the top red light is for.

I checked the forum and it appears that these are brakelights but are not activated in SA because of roadworthy regulations. Is this true or do I need to check that the bulbs have not been blown by the trailer?

The upper tail light clusters are disabled as standard in SA (It is because of the offset spare wheel that SA regulations require the lights in the bumper)

There is a fog light switch on the right hand side of your steering wheel on your dashboard. It switches on the tail lights in the top cluster. Please note, these are very bright and disturbing to cars traveling behind you when using in normal conditions.

Thanks for highlighting this bad manner here in traffic, when I came back from Work Tuesday night, we had heavy rain in Joburg. Almost every car had his rear fogs on which

a) "blind" the driver behind and
b) collide with the brake lights if the vehicle has 2....it looks all the time the car is on the brake

This is really a bad attitude....

There is a fog light switch on the right hand side of your steering wheel on your dashboard. It switches on the tail lights in the top cluster. Please note, these are very bright and disturbing to cars traveling behind you when using in normal conditions.

This is not standard... Those lights are not supposed to be enabled, and in theory should not be allowed to pass a roadworthy (expecially if the bumper lights have been removed)

I owned two Blister Fender LWB Pajeros before and both had the rear fog lamps in the upper cluster (this was standard). My Gen 3 has this as well. Note that it is only the fog lamps that are active in the top clusters. I think the SABS regulations for viewing angles are different for tail/brake/indicator lamps and for rear fog lamps.

Thanks Gerrit. If that's the case then my fog lamps don't work, or they are not enabled either... "pre-blister"

I have always wanted to install front fog lamps and was going to use the dash switch for those.
