PAJERO NS V5A5A Motul ATF VI
Dear All,

I recently bought my NS a month ago and i've been doing the fluids change as soon as finance allows. So this time I am doing the gearbox fluid change. It is the V5A5A gearbox and requires Mitsu's Diaqueen/Diamond ATF SP III fluid.

Checking with Motul, their ATF VI fluid is compatible with Mitsubishi SP III.

However the ATF VI is a low viscosity fluid as compared to the Motul Multi ATF for example which is a high viscosity fluid. Comparing with the Castrol Transmax Z which has a viscosity index of 170, the Motul ATF VI has a viscosity index of 159.

Has anyone here on this forum had an experience with using Motul's ATF VI in their 3.2 DiD autos?

Are low viscosity ATFs okay to use with the V5A5A?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Hello Javed,

My view is that you should only use DiaQueen ATF SP111 as specified by Mitsubishi.

Hey guys. So today I successfully changed the oil using the Motul atf vi. The paj shifts way better now, as if driving a totally different car. Less power loss for sure and hell more responsive. The old oil was pretty burnt. Will update about the performance of the motul. It took me around 12L to get decent coloured atf coming out of the return line
