From 265.70R16 to 265.75R16?
Would there be any down side if I were to go from 265.70R16 to 265.75R16? I need to replace my tyres and can't seem to find any BF's in 265.70.

The rolling circumference will increase by ±2.7%.

I don't think you will even notice it.

Your speedo will also be slightly more accurate, as they are over stated, and have the effect that your calculated fuel consumption will become seemingly worse due to it turning over slower(larger circumference of tyres). If you use a GPS to calculate fuel consumption the figures should remain the same as before as the actual distance traveled does not change, just the number of times that the wheel turns in that distance.

Re: From 265.70R16 to 265.75R16?
PajMan, you should be aware that your automatic GLX has very tall gearing. In fact, the gearing is so tall that it just manages to keep the torque converter locked on typical non mountainous routes at 120 km/h. The 3% larger rolling radius might not seem like much, but depending on how you typically use the vehicle, it might just tip the scales into the domain where the car runs in torque converter mode (as oposed to lock-up mode) much more of the time. This has been reported by some owners to have a significant effect on fuel consumption.

You could also consider 245/75R16 tyres, although I believe BFG ATs are no longer available in this size now that the 265/70R16s are brought in.

245/75R16: nominal diameter 30.5"
265/70R16: nominal diameter 30.6"
265/75R16: nominal diameter 31.65"

thanx guys

Happy Bday Gerrit
"I believe BFG ATs are no longer available in this size now that the 265/70R16s are brought in." I can't seem to find 265/70's stock up here in the north, might go for Hankook or Deulers in 265/70

Cats what is the size of your BF's?
Re: From 265.70R16 to 265.75R16?
Thanks PajMan!

If I recall correctly, CATS is running 265/75R16s, but his Paj has a manual transmission, which means that the gearing is different to the auto.

Re: From 265.70R16 to 265.75R16?
OK! Just bought 5 BF AT 265/70R16 from a friend, 1 brand new(spare) 4 15000km on them and never been offroad. Best of all only paid R5500.00 for all 5  , he is replacing them with BF MT's on his Hilux.

No only need to get a Roof Rack and I'm halfway there!!!

Today is a great day :D
