The battery, oil and oil filtration lamps are coming on for a split second every now and then while I am driving. Somebody said it could be a sign of alternator brushes being kaput. Does it make sense? If not, what would it be?

If it was only the alternator light then the laternator might be on it's way out.

I'd bet there is a dodgy connector on the cluster. I would start by pulling cleaning and re-assembling the cluster and it's connectors.
