Gen 4 Sunroof orientation

I just finished refurbishing the sunroof on my 2008 Pajero LWB. I knew the orientation of the sunroof from when I removed it. However, aligning the sunroof upon replacement it doesn't quite fit the orientation of the body (i.e. the 'curves' are different between the rubber surround and the roof itself). Nothing major, just doesn't seem to fit quite right even after aligning.
The rubber is correctly fitted but being as the vehicle was purchased second hand I'm wondering if the sunroof had been 'fiddled' with at some time or other. I can't find anything specific on the internet at to 'which way round' the sunroof is supposed to go so I thought I should ask the forum rather than remove again and trying the other way round.
From pictures on the internet I found one where the Mitsubishi 'engraved name plate' on the sunroof is positioned at the front drivers side on the sunroof. On mine it's at the rear passenger side. :?
I should have measured the attachment points when I had the sunroof off to see if they were symmetrical front to back but didn't think of it at the time.
From the bottom the metal 'plate' that holds the glass looks almost identical from the front to the back but there is a slight difference on one side (rear side in my case) where there's a hole in the metal on the one side and a 'slot' on the other. On the front end there's neither. Just wonder if these are used for 'catches' when the roof is open. Unfortunately no way of telling if this is the case without removing the roof lining.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Tony

Hi Tony

Sorry for the delay in replying to you but I have been traveling.

I checked my 2006 Pajero 3.2 LWB sun roof and the Mitsubishi logo is engraved on the rear LHS of the glass and can only be read from the outside of the car. So basically above the LHS rear passengers head.

I hope this helps you with the alignment.

Thanks for the reply!

Mine is in the same position so all's good then.

On my sunroof the rubber seal only overlays the glass portion by a few mm. As the actual internal 'viewing area' from the inside of the glass is already diminished by the metal 'carrier plate (to which the glass mounts) there's no real reason why Mitsu could not have used a wider rubber overlap of at least 10 mm to help prevent water ingress - and subsequent rust. Having a 'slim' rubber surrounding seal seems to be more to do with aesthetics than practicality. :(
