Hi chaps!
New Pajero owner here, so please accept my apologies if this topic has been covered ad nauseam, but here's my story.
I bought a new second-hand 2014 3.2 SWB for the missus. Lovely car, mileage ok, goes like a bomb. But! The Xenon dims are horrible. And the price to replace from the dealer even more so.
Has anyone on here upgraded to LEDs or improved them in any way? Are there any tricks to removing the headlights without dismantling the entire front end?
Any wise knowledge here would be hugely appreciated!
P.s - I'll likey be on quite here a bit to pick your brains, as it's not going to stay in "Grandpa" spec for too much longer.
Cheers!
Shane
It's the headlamp assembly that is the problem, not the globes. And changing to LED's is going to annoy other road users due to the amount of light it puts out and in the wrong area where you need it on the road. By all means try them, but get the Phillips kit. It's about R 1200 Rond......not a Fong Hong.
People put in 150 watt H4 and apart from pushing a PUTCO Bus off the road doesn't do anything apart from the reason above. Just remember the law of physics, you should be able to stop in the area of the road lit up by your headlamps. Believe me, stopping a SWB Pajero at speed is not an experience I wish to repeat. A bit like the Titanic, anchors out but it still goes sailing past. Go with the flow, enjoy the ride, you will still get there in the end. Your stress, wear and tear and your family will thank you for it.
Go to this place, I have used them in my work for many years, they sell both the Xenon lamps and the Ballast at exceptionally reasonable prices, separate or combined as a kit. DO NOT GO THE TO STEALERS.
Be prepared to have some ear plugs handy, as the neighbors, and your family will hear words that should not be repeated in polite company, when you change the globe, expect lots cuts, grazes, blood smeared over everything, and the satisfaction of having done it yourself. REMEMBER, the globes have a built in tab to make sure it goes back it the same place.
