Series 3 2006 V6 Peterol. I have an intermittent Fault on the Speedo and occasionally on the Rev Counter. Usually the Speedo only works after the car has run 5- 10 minutes. Rev Counter does the same but less frequently/ Looking for a Technician who can do PCB level repairs. I suspect a dry joint somewhere. Any recommendations in Gauteng?

Hi, before you do any costly fault finding try this. Mine did exactly the the same. And no faults on computer. Particularly if it was standing in the sun for a bit. Sometimes I would drive an entire trip with no speedo or rev counter.
Remove the clear cover, and using a paper towel with some benzene clean the needle and the pin that it rests against. A common problem is dirt that causes sticking of the needle to the pin. The force to push clear is very low, so in older vehicles it seems like this starts happening. It's been about 7 months now since I did this, and it has never given me issues again.
Cheers,
Dreyer
