Hello from Helderberg, WC
ImageHi all,
Thanks for letting me join the forum.
I'm Phil from Helderberg, scaling back from work in the IT and electronics sector and planning to do some exploring in areas north of CT.
I took the plunge today and bought a 2006 3.2 DID GLX LWB with 210k on the clock. Drove it home from Moorreesburg without incident.
This is my first foray into SUV's and 4x4s so I have lots to learn. I do not intend off-roading but the dirt road capabilities will come in handy.
The car has the usual niggles for its age, like the temperature gauge R10 issue, 4x4 indicator LED's intermittent etc. The diff lock is also a bit sticky when disengaging. Motor and gearbox are smooth as silk, of course ;-)
It will be getting a bodywork & interior deep clean followed by an in-depth mechanical inspection in the coming week, followed by a service plus any needed work.
It also needs a new LH tail lamp assy, windscreen and 4 tyres as the old ones are hardened with age.
Any tips, tricks and advice appreciated.
-Phil
