Transfer case dynamic damper Generation 4 Pajero 2008

My second hand Pajero is now 10 years old and on 290KKm. For years I've had this annoying vibration/noise at speeds staring from 60 Km/Hr upwards - but only when on accelerating (gentle) and on smooth tar roads. Taking my foot off the accelerator, the noise stops. There is no noise on turning so it's not CVs (well maybe, inner ones could be suspect). I took it to Propshaft centre yesterday and they say the CVJs are fine but query the 'play' in the front transfer case to front wheels propshaft but I'm not so certain as it was with the engine off and in 2H.
I have replaced tyres, SCV, engine mountings, bushings on the plate under the gearbox (but not the main rubber 'brace/gearbox holder') and a few other things. The front (under transfer case) dynamic damper was missing from purchase. I tried removing the rear dynamic damper but that caused more vibration from the start even at load speeds - but I'll try it again, it may have been before I had the new gearbox support bushes changed.
It looks like I can only get the front dynamic damper with all the 'casing' (Ref: 3201A064 but the diagram doesn't really show details).
Anyway, I thought that replacing that assembly might help.
From what I've read, some have removed the rear damper, and some both. Have not heard of removing the front and leaving the rear one in place though.
So I thought I could try just adding a weight to the front (transfer case) one - but what mass? One would also have thought that Mitsubishi would have 'tuned' the weight on a Paj by Paj basis.
Anyone have any similar experience or perhaps a shot of the real transfer case damper (with added mass)?
