Hi

Lets get an idea of how many of us are using the same tyres, etc...

I am using Hankook MT RT03

Eventually spend the morning tyre shopping. :D Had a serious look at the Hankooks, both MT's and RF10's, also the new GY Wrangler AT/SA's. Tuff choice. GY's are very well priced, but no-one has stock.

Eventually settled for BFG A/T's after getting a decent price. Had very good service from them on my Colt. :D

Can't tell you how relieved I was to take off those Dueler 694's, or rather what was left of them after only about 35 000K's.

BFG A/T all the way.

My brother has them on his colt and he is very happy with them.

Also got them for a very good price R1600 a tyre :D

Have tried Goodyear Wrangler RTSA (good mileage, fair price, crappy off-road performance, goes oout of round) and Michelin LTX M&S (very pricey, very good on-road tyre for a vehicle made to walk off road -- excellent in sand, but that's about it) .

I now swear by BFG A/T ... hard to beat the off-road performance / mileage / cost cobination. Downside? Tyre noise quite intrusive from about 80 km/h - only for the first 80 000km ors :) Also quite a bit of tyre roll.

went to work with the pajero today using maxxis bravo A/T.

I aimed for the mud puddles on purpose after this morning's rains.

They grip very well! I didn't get wiggly once!

I wont buy Maxxis because customer service sucks. It took several weeks for responses to my emails to Maxxis themselves and the dealers who sell Maxxis were not much better.

I had BFG A/T before. Lousy wet weather performance, and a LOT more vulnerable to punctures than I might have expected. Vulnerable to debeading in sand. Too expensive.

I had settled on GY Wranglers but then had to wait for 2 months for stock (for 15"??? that's crazy)

I settled on Hankook because the price was good and got decent reviews in the US and Aus. My opinion thus far... nice and quiet, grip well in the wet, very good in sand, and not too bad offroad (BFG probably better)

I am on my second pair of Pirelli Scorpions. Great road performance and has done Baviaanskloof and Kalahari without any problems. For serious off road work the BFG is king.

Opting for Kumho's M834 M&S 8PLY 225/75/16 @ R1350 http://www.tyretraders.co.za very nice website to compare prices and to look at the reviews and the patterns. Also they come to you to fit the tyres & balance them and have card facility's in the van. http://www.tyretraders.co.za/index.php? ... re_id=2491 Obviously with that pattern I would expect good off road performance but nothing is being said about wet/road performance

Hi
I went to Sutherland to check out the snow (and also to see how the Hankook MT perform.... )

Well, it handled the snow, mud and icy VERY well. I also went on some real wet, muddy and snow covered back roads without a problem - took the road via Ouberg Pass...

The attachment P1090761.JPG is no longer available
A cool -3 degrees - last Tuesday evening....

On the way back, over Ouberg Pass, direction Tankwa Karoo
