Hi All
My antenna in my 2005 LWB got bit damaged this weekend. I would like to replace it, don't think it can be repaired. How do I remove the antenna as I cannot see access to it from inside the engine bay. Mitsubishi is charging me R464.00 for the part, no labour and I see Midas sells a complete unit for r210.00, not sure if it will fit though.
Ideas will be greatly appreciated

Re: Automatic Antenna
Those automatic antenna in the Pajero's are a joke. I assume the Gen3 is similar to the Gen2 in that the mechanism is in the fender and a pain to get at. When (not if) mine gets broken - it's pretty close - I will replace it with a whip antenna.

Re: Automatic Antenna
Just went through the same exercise!
Question: is it only the mast that is damaged, or is it the whole unit that is damaged?
The price you quoted is what I paid for the mast (2 weeks ago), absurd really .....
If you do decide to replace the mast only, then a decent set of instructions can be found at: http://www.carstereohelp.org/stereoremo ... PwrAnt.htm
If you do decide to replace the whole unit, then I can scan the section in the workshop manual that explains how the antenae unit is mounted and what you have to do to get it out.

I just want to replace the mast. But the price of the unit at Midas might have me reconsiber it. I just don't know if the Midas unit will fit.
Simon, i was thinking the same thing, still deciding though

Re: Automatic Antenna
The Pajero one is very easy to replace
I have also changed my switch to pull the aerial in when we listen to the cd and that will defenitly same the aerial in the future

Re: Automatic Antenna
Jaco, apparently to get at the antennae motor itself you need to remove the plastic inner gaurd under the wheel arch. The aerial is just behind it. It's held in by 2 nuts and the mast base nut. I haven't tried this myself.
In the passenger footwell is a panel. If you open this you will find an antennae coupling. From the looks of it, this links the antennae motor to the radio, making the replacement of the motor easier ie. no need to run cable all the way through the dash and into the radio.
I also considered replacing the entire unit - Audio Sonic quoted +/- R250 to replace the antennae with one that gets mounted on the inside of the windscreen (behind the rear view mirror). Just was not sure as to what kind of reception I would get ....
