They flew into Cape Town for a few weeks. Paj sits quietly in garage minding its business. Rats move in and the rest is history.

Seriously though. The main thing now is how does one prevent this rat/mice infestation again occurring?

Trip is over and done, so "around the fire" talk is surely permitted.
Long story: Frik bought a brand new SLK Mercedes to fulfill a life long ambition. Even had his garage carpeted for the occasion. He really liked the Merc, but I suspect the novelty didn't really last that long. Out goes Merc and in comes this Sexy new SWB.
Meanwhile Annette gets offered old wooden furniture from a family farm. This also gets stored in the garage (and Frik doesn't get to restoring them).
Perfect storm: Solitary garage, Pajero only comes out for the "occasion" (remember it replaced a SLK toy), carpet on the floor and old farm furniture in storage.
As of yesterday - Annette will have to look very far to find the old furniture
and every conceivable vermin poison has been applied. The Jack Russel is still alive, so I assume Frik is carefull enough.
