for the life of me, I cannot find the autobox dipstick? where the heck is it

If the EMS light came on, albeit briefly, the system would have that fault logged and by going into the system have a look for recorded fault codes. You can do this if you have an OBD sytem linked to your phone or you will have to get someone with a diagnostic machine to look for you. Where about are you based?

Hi Peter, I could reset - but without a code on an uphill, and I floor the paj, on around 3500 rpm the engine 'dies'. I also read somewhere that these models do NOT have a autobox dipstick?

I really am no boffin.. my experience with the paj is: mass airflow sensor or map (exhaust ) sensor? Never heard of catalyst, even turbo problems. I do have a problem now though? Going uphill and flooring, the engine goes 'dead' fuel consumption travelling @ 125 km/h - garmin speed, about 9.8l / 100km..

Can across this thread last night and read the whole thing

Did the MAF sensor cleaning, and idle reset procedure (had the battery out due to alternator issues)

Took the Pajero out on the highway, AND it is a different BEAST

Easily made it to the top speed, and great uphill acceleration

For the record, mine is a
2007 Gen4 3.2 DiD GLX
258 000km on the clock
No remapping or chip set
Cleaned the intake manifold last year, mine was dirty.
EGR is not blocked
General grabbers, with raised suspension, and load system

I also did the MAF sensor clean on Friday, and although I haven't driven it a lot, it seems a lot more responsive, and has a bit more power on the uphills. For a 10 minute job it it definitely worthwhile.

MAF was very dirty - couldn't see the second sensor at first as it was pitch black

Just for interest sake, and I don't know if it has been mentioned here, but the Mitsubishi MAF part number for my car is 1525A016, which corresponds to a generic Denso part number of DMA-0113

I always advise check the obvious / easiest things first. Maybe I should listen to myself !!

As mentioned above I have searched and researched for the missing performance in my vehicle and yes there has been a big improvement. Recently I was given some tyres and being on pension and with things being tight I put them on my vehicle. Previous size was 265/70/17 (slightly oversize) put on by previous owner. I now fitted 255/65/17 (slightly under size) but hell they were free! You can feel the actual increase in torque. It is also lighter on fuel and stays in TC lock up a lot longer.
It is going to be a tough decision when I have to buy new tyres again.
So my son buys tyres for his Gen3 and gets 265/70/17. Why I ask? Because they look better he says! I admit yes it does, but at what cost of performance? He also says that he could immediately feel the loss in torque.
Interestingly I towed over the weekend. After filling up i noticed an immediate loss in performance / fuel economy. That I believe was as a result of diesel fuel being laced with paraffin to improve their profit margin.

Everybody is having this discussion about MAF sensors cleaning and idle reset-

First question-where is the sensors and i read there is two?
Secondly-with what and how do you clean it?
Thirdly-how do you reset the idling cause my Pajero 3.8 V6 2008 is idling very low and it should be at about 750 RPM.

Agents asking R1200 for diagnostics

Then the tyres,what pressure is recommended and a friend of mine also dropped a size albeit not on a Pajero but he also confirm a better fuel consumption on his Ranger.

Any pointers will be appreciated.
