My Pleasure guys.
Lets not forget Cloyd. He was the pioneer. I just copied his idea and took some photos.

Re: Gen 3 Tail light (LED Conversion)
Looks good.... But, if anLEDs dies (one or more), then you can't just replace a bulb, you have to remove the whole thing, and re-silicon a new one in place?
I know LEDs normally last long, but I have seen several trucks and buses with dead LEDs.

Re: Gen 3 Tail light (LED Conversion)
I dont think that having to remove the whole lamp and re-silicon would be the main issue. These lamps cost around R120 each. There would have to be more than a couple of LED's out before I replace them.

Re: Gen 3 Tail light (LED Conversion)
Wilddog....brilliant excecution of Cloyds design! I always thought that the "Cosmetic" lights was a waste of space....now I believe I will have to do the same.
I do want to ask a question....could one not keep the entire truck light in tact?? Will it be to dim OR will the the words "Truck Lamp" show through
.....I am not lazy but was just thinking that it might save time, silicone and might last a bit longer as it remains sealed...?? Just a thought??

I guess you could keep it in tact but you would definetley see the words truck lamp. dont think it would be too dim, these lights are really bright. The reason I and Cloyd (I guess) cut the lamps up and selected that particular model is that the LED's are located in diamond like indents and look quite attractive.

Re: Gen 3 Tail light (LED Conversion)
Wilddog, we 4x4 oke's dont call anything on our vehicles "attractive"
.....but I get your point
.
Maybe I will try a sealed unit (after trying to remove the wording "Truck lamp" with some thinnners etc etc).......ok I will admit.....I am a bit lazy!
Thanks again for the nice step by step pics.....give's us "normally not DIY guys" the guts to try it!

Hi wilddog
you say : "I was using globes before this mod, so the wiring was already there. You can buy the terminals for the existing connector at Volvo trucks countrywide."
Any change you can provide that part number from the Volvo Trucks? I woul dlike to see if I can get them.
What would the wiring look like when I want to connect all up?

Re: Gen 3 Tail light (LED Conversion)
Hi Jaco,
The advice I give is for Gen 3 as I do not know enough about the other Paj models. I'm sure there would be someone else that can advise on other models if needed.
The wiring for the taillights is already provided on the Gen 3. When you remove the taillights you will find the wiring and plug. The wiring that is being used is for the reverse lights and fog light, but the stop and taillight wiring terminates at the plug (There is no terminal or wiring coming out of the plug) because the stop and tail part is not used on the SA models.
So you need the terminals to do a nice job and to ensure you can remove the taillight if you need to without having to cut wires. The terminals come in a case. The case number is 88890031 the picture shows the exact position of the terminal in the case.
