Hi everyone,
I'm a new member to this forum and recently became a proud owner of a well looked after 2001 Did LWB.
I'm trying to figure out which of the little snags is worth paying attention and money to which not.
One of the bugs is dry joints on the LCD display which according to previous threads is a common problem and a bit costly for the purpose in my opinion. Any other suggestions to fix the LCD ?
My external temperature reading on the LCD is faulty - usually indicates high 30's when temperature is probable low 20's.
How do I fix this ?
Any help will be appreciated,

Welcome and enjoy.
The lcd on those models are a bugbear and very common. I have not got a quote from the agents in ages, might be interesting to know what they go for lately!
Are you sure your external temp is wrong? Remember that the temp will go up when standing still due to the engine heat, which would be dispersed when moving.

Re: Gen 3 external temperature reading faulty
Hi Cats,
Yes, pretty sure. Live in Cape Town and temp. rarely gets over 30 deg C. My external temp. has been approx. 37 - 39 driving or not, weather hot or cold. Sometimes at night come down to low 30's but something appears to be wrong.

I thought he said it was cold in Cape Town ?
For some or other reason I calculated 1C is 1.6F - Obviously got confused with km and miles - Sorry.
But yeah the manual will be good place to start I guess

Re: Gen 3 external temperature reading faulty
Nope, not Fahrenheit. Had a look - display actually said it was Celsius.
I asked the service manager when I had it serviced - he seemed confident it was some faulty part. I'll check if I have the name. They could fix it, part was inexpensive, but with labour again a few hundred rand. Thought I'll just check on the forum if this is a common problem and if it is possible for someone without technical knowledge to fit the part.

Before you splash out dosh on "diagnostics", just have a look at where your temperature sensor is. In mitsu it is usually in a bracket attached to the left front bumper.
