I have a 2005 3.2 Did LWB with 240 000km on the clock. I'm considering to put in a Unichip with the additional option for 5 user defined mappings that I can change. Would like to decrease diesel consumption and have some more power. Also if there is a specific setting to tow an offroad caravan. Current price is R3400.00 plus R1500.00 with the option to change the setting. Working at R13.00 per liter (diesel costs) and possibly increase of 50km per tank, I should cover the cost in about 8 months. They did say on average one should get additional 100km per tank.
The question is; is this a good or bad thing to do, especially on the age and km's of the vehicle?

Re: RE: To chip or not to chip
I did the same with mine a couple of months ago. It was on 220000km. Made a nice difference on performance and fuel consumption. Even if I'm not going to recover the costs it makes the car so much more enjoyable and keeping it for the long run makes sense.jaco_n wrote:I have a 2005 3.2 Did LWB with 240 000km on the clock. Re: To chip or not to chip
Hi I have a 2010 GLX 3.2 LWB and it was chipped with the UNI chip and it is amazing the differece it made to the performance.
Fuel consumption with an empty car on the open road is in the vicinity of 11km/l at 120.
I am also towing a Conqueror companion and the consumption drop to 6.5 - 7km/l but the performance is great.
I have no regrets. I normally drive with the setting at no 4 with 5 being the most power.
Be blessed

I have a 2010 3.2 DID - Did the chipping through Arnold Venter, Mitsi Tech. and all I can add is "WOW" what an amazing difference.
Went to Arniston in December and on the road, overtaking capability was just staggering. Fuel consumption cam in at 9.1 per 100 km.

Re: To chip or not to chip
Just for info: I contacted Steves Auto Clinic. For the Gen 3 DiD they sell a unichip for R4500 including dyna tuning. They do no install the 5 stage setting module, as apparently it does not work on the particular model. My 2006 DiD is standing on 316,000kms, so I am in two minds about chipping.

Re: To chip or not to chip
I chipped my previous Pajero Sport at SAC in Boksburg last year. Performance was good but it kept on stalling when running against compression. I took it back 3 times and they could not resolve the problem. I got "the moer in" told them to stick it in the most likely place and got my money back.
I think it is just them and not the product.
Anyone chipped a late model 140kw Pajero?
