LR fuel tank for Gen 3 Pajero

1. Herewith my solution to the question of a long range tank. The tank has its own pump and filter and the whole system is not connected to the standard Pajero fuel system at all. The car is refueled by inserting a pipe from the pump into the normal fuel filler, connecting the pump directly to the battery or in my case to a Hella plug in the back, switch it "on" and enjoy a cold one. The working pressure of the pump is the same as that of the normal pump and can thus act as a replacement in case of a failure of the Pajero pump.

2. Herwith my solution:

Can you post the specs of how you made the tank and how you have mounted it. I would like to fit a LR tank.

Cloyd that looks like an ideal solution for a non permanent fit.
Please show us what it looks like installed and of the pump if possible.

How would you fill this tank up..........in-situ, meaning that you have to empty the cargo area when on a trip? Where does the breather go? Must say, its a nice space for a tank!

I have the 45Ltr Front-Runner tank which goes under the car, which is piped up permanently. Also works very well!

OK now I lost it?? Are you guys saying this goes INSIDE the vehicle in the space for the third row seats? If so I would rather not have it there due to possible fire risk and fumes.

I was under the impression that it is a DIY tank to fit underneath as the Frontrunner one?

1. When I did the planning for my LR tank, I visited about 20 written-of Pajeros to see where the most damage occur during accidents. I found that all of the cars were either destroyed in head-on, side-on or roll-over accidents. Not a single one in a tail-ender. With fuel on the roof there is always the possibility of a "fuel-shower" during an accident. The tanks can be damaged or come loose and drop of. My filler is inside the vehicle, but the filler caps that I use are absolutely air and fuel tight and will not leak in the case of a roll-over. The tank also has a vent to the atmosphere and vents out next to the standard right hand side tow bracket. In the attached photo you can see my filler plus the vent that I open when refueling. This cap has a dipstick attached to it. The box on the right contains the refuel pipie and electrical connections. This box bolts to my drawer system and is then absolutely solid.

2. Tanks can be made on order and will take about two weeks to complete. If an owner insist that the pipes must join up with the standard fuel pipes, the fittings can be changed. My cel number is 083 564 9141 o or 012 567 4909.

3. Thanks for the questions; it forced me to reconsider my decisions, but I am satisfied that my tank comstruction and its placement is the best.

Regards, Cloyd.

I guess you fill it up yourself?? I can see "Lucky" or 'Innocent" at your friendly local service station make a big mess in the back of your car!
