Stability control lights coming on when stopped...?

Tue Feb 14, 2012 10:23 am

Hi,

When driving in traffic and I'm stopped I place the autobox in neutral.

As of yesterday I noticed the following:

The N light doesn't always light up
After a few seconds the stability control lights illuminate (I can't recall if this is only if I pull up the handbrake - need to check this)
When I pull away the stability control lights go out again

See attached pic for details.

You'll notice that the bottom right wheel on the 4WD lights is out as well.

So. Do you think we have some loose wires behind the display panel or is there a genuine problem with my stability control?

Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom!

Dave

Found this on the Aussie forum - thought it was interesting:
Basically, the warning lights are all part of the TC and ASC system. Which reads, trottle position, steering angle sensor, engine rpm, turbo boost pressure etc etc. The smallest "mechancial or vacuum" malifunction produces these warning lights but it can be in what seems to be an unrelated area. I was thinking electrical due to the Scantool giving a trottle position error, when the cause of the throttle position error was the vacuum line going to the trottle body or AC advance. What I'm trying to show is look at the "system" not just the sensors. Mine was giving a steering angle error as well, but the vacuum hole solved all of these errors, because of the intrinsic nature of the system.

I'd almost back that the Mitsi Apprentice read the scantool - error steering position, as replace the sensor!

Just my 2 bobs worth after 5 years of NP ownership. It did help to read the repair manual on the T/c asc and the vac system!!!!!!!!
