Making Cigarette Lighter Sockets Live All the Time?

Thu Mar 11, 2010 3:15 pm

I have a Gen 3 2005 DiD SWB. I want to get the cigarette lighter sockets to be live even when the vehicle is switched off. I.e. the socket in the loadbay as well as the socket in the centre consol, between the front seats. I don’t yet have a dual battery system or anything like that and I am aware of the risk of running the crank battery flat.
I read somewhere that it is possible to remove or bridge a relay that switches off these sockets when the ignition is off. Is this possible and where do I find this relay?

if you do it i would wire in a switch so as to still have it off/on when you choose.

Add two items:
  • fuse
  • low voltage cut-out (like they use on 12V fridges
