Hello every one.
My first post, my first Pajero, my first problem.
I am in the process of purchasing an oldie. High milage but no major problems to date. So I was hopeful...
Towed it in to Cargo Motors Klerksdorp because the brake alarm was sounding and there are no brakes at all. Read on here that it will be the HBB. Turned out to be true.
According to Cargo the HBB solenoïde needs to be overhauled. Not their policy to do that, so it will go to a business in Potchefstroom and on to Johburg for fixing.
This is where I'm asking for experts in sourcing parts. As this is a "spoeg en plak" fix and I don't want to drive her for an extended time with this fix. I would like to know where I will find either a secondhand HBB (couldn't get hold of the guys at Parthunt on the numbers given here) or alternatively where/how to order the correct unit. I'm not sure of the part number at this stage.
Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated by this newbie.

Re: Hydraulic Brake Booster Gen3 LWB
Hello Skedoons,
Congrats on your Pajero purchase!
I have a 2002 Gen 3 3.2 Did SWB and according to my local dealer I had a recall on my HBB, which they installed. You could try calling your Mitsubishi dealer and ask them to run your VIN through their system to see if you any outstanding recalls (check your service book to see where the vehicle was purchased/service by the dealer as they will have the VIN history on file). If your specific vehicle does not have any outstanding recalls, you can then just ask them to give you a quote and part number of a new HBB according to your VIN.
Hope you can find a solution soon.

Hello Jono,
Thank you!! She is a beautiful old lady.
Thank you for your reply and the heads-up about the possible recall.
She is still at the dealers, but I will try to get hold of the VIN number for the investigation.
I really hope the recall is also relevant for my car as the quote I received for the replacement is a staggering R77 000 - even more than the purchase price!!

Good morning
Contact me on 081 388 0783. I ordered a new winding for my hbb pump but ran out of time and reconditioned my original. I have the kit and can send you photos.
I could not cancel my order and I'm sitting with it in a drawer as an expensive paper weight.
Regards Shane.

Hi XT660JVR,
Thank you for your reply and the info. Much appreciated!
She is back in Potch, awaiting the post Xmas season opening of the brake and clutch repair shop.
According to the dealers in Klerksdorp it seems to be the solenoid - it's apparently stuck. I'm trying to learn all I can and from what I read it seems to (rather) be the pump motor, but I do not know. I'm in no way qualified or even prepared to challenge their findings.
The Potch people also suggested a recon. I will only know more in a few weeks and will be able to decide on what the way forward will be.
Hoping to be in the drivers seat very soon though.
